Resumo: | The text, a blend of testimony and article, seeks to highlight the role of the course taught by Greimas in Brazil in July 1973, not only as a facilitator for the reception of discursive semiotics but, above all, as the founding gesture of a semiotics school in Brazil. Three main outcomes of the 1973 course were noted: the opportunity to participate in a “Greimas seminar”; the founding of the A. J. Greimas Center for Semiotic Studies; and the establishment of the journal “Significação – Revista Brasileira de Semiótica”, the official publication of the Center. |

Greimas Center for Semiotic Studies; and the establishment of the journal “Significação – Revista Brasileira de Semiótica”, the official publication of the Center.O texto, uma mistura de depoimento e de artigo, procura mostrar o papel do curso ministrado por Greimas no Brasil, em julho de 1973, não apenas como um elemento facilitador da recepção da semiótica discursiva, mas, sobretudo, como o gesto fundador de uma escola de semiótica no Brasil. Foram observadas três principais decorrências do curso de 1973: a oportunidade de participação em um “seminário de Greimas”; a fundação do Centro de Estudos Semióticos A. J. Greimas; e a criação da revista Significação – Revista Brasileira de Semiótica, órgão oficial de publicação do Centro.
