Profile of children with autistic spectrum disorder in relation to independence in daily life activities

Resumo: | This research addresses the theme of independence in relation to daily life activities in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The study aimed to elaborate and present the profile of a group of children with ASD in relation to the level of independence in daily life activities (ADL). Five children underwent an assessment using a specific instrument.The activities were performed as spontaneously as possible for data reliability and parents and guardians of children with ASD were interviewed as well as their teachers, aiming at those who had the greatest contact with it in their ADL. The results indicated two children were identified as independent, two semi-independent and one dependent. The results identified different profiles characterized by the influence of Spectrum symptoms and the environment in their development. The most affected area was the clothing understanding that the influence of the family is of extreme necessity in the development. Finally, the intention is to bring the profile of the children back to the professionals, parents and caregivers, in order to contribute to the collaborative work and future interventions, promoting improvement on both sides. |

O estudo teve como objetivo elaborar e apresentar o perfil de um grupo de crianças com TEA em relação ao nível de independência nas atividades de vida diária (AVD). Cinco crianças passaram por uma avaliação com o uso de um instrumento específico. A coleta foi realizada numa instituição sem fins lucrativos, localizada numa cidade da região centro-oeste do estado de São Paulo. As atividades foram realizadas de maneira mais espontâneas possíveis para fidedignidade dos dados e foram entrevistados pais e responsáveis de criança com TEA, bem como seus professores, visando àqueles que tenham maior contato com ela em suas AVD. Os resultados indicaram duas crianças independentes, duas semi-independentes e uma dependente e identificaram também diferentes perfis caracterizados pela influência dos sintomas do espectro e do meio em seu desenvolvimento. O aspecto mais afetado foi o vestuário, entendendo que a influência da família é de extrema importância no desenvolvimento deste.
