HEALTH INDICATORS OF SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS IN A REGION OF BAHIA

this paper aimed to present health indicators for Special Education teachers who work in municipal schools in the region of Piemonte da Diamantina, state of Bahia. The study included thirty-six teachers who answered a questionnaire. The theme in question deals with the health of Special Education teachers. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), teachers make up the second professional category that most presents symptoms of illnesses related to their occupation. The results indicated that teachers in general practice physical exercises, especially walking or running outdoors; however, they feel pain in the spine or joints, but consider their diet to be very healthy. Thus, it is essential that more studies are produced on the topic of teachers' health conditions, especially those who work with Special Education, in other cities in Bahia and even in other states in Brazil.
