Development of information competence in the Covid-19 pandemic: contribution of Higher Education Institutions in the Northern Region of Brazil

Resumo: With the objective of examining the contribution of universities and federal institutes in the Northern Region of Brazil to the development of information competence in coping with the Covid-19 pandemic, this study discusses information competence in the context of higher education considering the reconfigured society scenario by the Covid-19 pandemic, mapping the actions of these spaces for the development of information competence in combating the pandemic. With regard to methodological procedures, this study is exploratory and descriptive in terms of its objectives and uses a qualitative approach when describing the practices examined and identified in the universities and institutes under analysis. In order to investigate the initiatives developed by public HEIs, searches were carried out on news on the institutions' websites using terms related to Covid-19, according to the group of indicators proposed by UNESCO (2008) as a guide for inferences about the contribution of initiatives in universities and institutes. It was concluded that the competence in information in the scope of the HEIs located in the Northern Region of Brazil, permeates issues related to the development of platforms, mapping of sources and dissemination of informational materials.

En cuanto a los procedimientos metodológicos, este estudio es exploratorio y descriptivo en cuanto a sus objetivos y utiliza un enfoque cualitativo al describir las prácticas examinadas e identificadas en las universidades e institutos analizados. Para investigar las iniciativas desarrolladas por las IES públicas, se realizaron búsquedas de noticias en los sitios web de las instituciones utilizando términos relacionados con Covid-19, según el conjunto de indicadores propuestos por UNESCO (2008) como guía para inferencias sobre la contribución. de iniciativas en universidades e institutos. Se concluyó que la competencia en información dentro de las IES ubicadas en la Región Norte de Brasil, impregna temas relacionados con el desarrollo de plataformas, mapeo de fuentes y difusión de materiales informativos.Com objetivo de examinar a contribuição das universidades e institutos federais da Região Norte do Brasil para o desenvolvimento de competência em informação no enfrentamento da pandemia de Covid-19, este estudo discute a competência em informação no contexto do ensino superior considerando o cenário da sociedade reconfigurado pela pandemia de Covid-19, mapeando as ações destes espaços para o desenvolvimento de competência em informação no combate à pandemia. No que tange aos procedimentos metodológicos, este estudo se apresenta exploratório e descritivo quanto aos seus objetivos e usa a abordagem qualitativa ao descrever as práticas examinadas e identificadas nas universidades e institutos em análise. Para investigar as iniciativas desenvolvidas pelas IES públicas, foram empreendidas buscas em notícias nos websites das instituições por meio de termos relacionados a Covid-19, segundo o grupo de indicadores propostos pela UNESCO (2008) como norte para inferências sobre a contribuição das iniciativas em universidades e institutos.
