Visibility and access to government Brazilian publications on the Open Book Portal on Science, Technology and Innovation

The research aims to present the Open Book Portal on Science, Technology and Innovation as a platform to promote the visibility of official publications, especially on brazilian science and to verify how research institutes linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations, through of their respective information units, are aligned with the initiative. The selected methodology was descriptive research in order to characterize the institutional repositories of the sixteen institutions participating in the Library Network of the Research Institutes of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (RBP), the target audience of the study. The results indicate that there are many challenges to consolidate the Portal as a reference platform in the area, among them to strengthen the partnership between Ibict and RBP for the deposit of its official publications on a continuous basis. The research concludes that the Government Brazilian publications are born and die unknown to the general public, as said by Gilberto Freyre in 1951. Seven decades later, with all available technology, the lack of visibility of this type of production remains, including the contents related to the scientific and national technological development.
