Design Science: research in a theorical field

Resumo: The present research maps the advances in the theoretical field of Design Science from a set of Brazilian works. The objective is to demonstrate from the study of one of the works a way of organizing the theoretical field in the context of Information Science, using the representation in a bibliometric map on the subject. A qualitative study is developed through a descriptive research that starts from a general premise about Design Science and adds intermediate or particular premises to the term. The data used to construct the research are composed by the universe of Brazilian theses that approached the subject or had the term Design Science present in the title of their works, and in addition a set of relevant Brazilian works on the theme that were available in the database of CAPES on the date of the consultation. The data collected from the literature review served as a reference for the analysis of a bibliometric map of a thesis on the subject, specially created with the function of representing the knowledge about the theme available in Brazilian theses, facilitating the consultative studies and the future research in the field of Design Science. Specifically, it is expected that the results with the research offer: a) description of the behavior of the term of Design Science, based on the works consulted, in view of its representativeness in several areas of knowledge; b) presentation of the term Design Science in a transdisciplinary perspective; c) representation of the knowledge about the thematic as a form of organization of the field.

El objetivo es demostrar a partir del estudio de uno de los trabajos una forma de organizar el campo teórico en el contexto de la Ciencia de la Información, usando la representación en un mapa bibliométrico sobre el asunto. Se desarrolla un estudio cualitativo a través de una investigación descriptiva que parte de una premisa general sobre Design Science y agrega premisas intermedias o particulares al término. Los datos utilizados para la construcción de la investigación son compuestos por el universo de tesis brasileñas que abordaron el tema o tuvieron el término Design Science presente en el título de sus trabajos, y, adicionalmente un conjunto de trabajos brasileños relevantes sobre el tema que estaban disponibles en la base de datos de la CAPES en la fecha de la consulta. Los datos recogidos de la revisión de literatura sirvieron de referencia para el análisis de un mapa bibliométrico de una tesis sobre el tema, especialmente creado con la función de representar el conocimiento sobre la temática disponible en las tesis brasileñas, facilitar los estudios consultivos y las futuras investigaciones sobre el campo de Design Science. De forma específica, se espera que los resultados con la investigación ofrezcan: a) descripción del comportamiento del término de Design Science, a partir de los trabajos consultados, frente a su representatividad en diversas áreas del conocimiento; b) presentación del término Design Science desde una perspectiva transdisciplinaria; c) representación del conocimiento sobre la temática como forma de organización del campo.A presente pesquisa mapeia os avanços no campo teórico da Design Science a partir de um conjunto de trabalhos brasileiros. O objetivo é demonstrar a partir do estudo de um dos trabalhos uma forma de organizar o campo teórico no contexto da Ciência da Informação, usando a representação em um mapa bibliométrico sobre o assunto. Desenvolve-se um estudo qualitativo por meio de uma pesquisa descritiva que parte de uma premissa geral sobre Design Science e agrega premissas intermediárias ou particulares ao termo. Os dados utilizados para construção da pesquisa são compostos pelo universo de teses brasileiras que abordaram o assunto ou tiveram o termo Design Science presente no título de seus trabalhos, e, adicionalmente um conjunto de trabalhos brasileiros relevantes sobre o tema que estavam disponíveis no banco de dados da CAPES na data da consulta. Os dados coletados da revisão de literatura serviram de referêncial para análise de um mapa bibliométrico de uma tese sobre o assunto, especialmente criado com a função de representar o conhecimento sobre a temática disponível nas teses brasileiras, facilitar os estudos consultivos e as futuras pesquisas sobre no campo da Design Science.
