Information literacy actions or programs in Brazilian university libraries

The development of Information Literacy programs in university libraries is a need and a challenge for librarians, since such competencies are essential to the teaching and learning process. This article aims to identify the actions or programs of Information Literacy in the scope of Brazilian university libraries and the basic elements for their development. As for the objective, this work is characterized as exploratory research with a qualitative approach, as to the procedures, it is bibliographic research that has as delimitation the last ten years (2012 - 2022). Eleven publications were identified that address elements for the implementation of these programs, and only three of them mention the use of guiding parameters. It appears that there are still few formally structured programs or actions, and it is desirable that information and education professionals unite in order to plan well-structured and articulated information literacy programs in Brazilian university libraries.
