Resumo: In the research we intend to recover the historical shaping of Bauru City, from the installation of the Noroeste do Brasil railway, in the first two decades of the twentieth century. The installation of the railroad in the city of Bauru was an significant venture of the first republican governments and it was typical of the leading social and economic issues that permeated Brazil at that period, such as: national integration projects; viability and deepening of the agro-export economic model; the different forms of violence that poorest people has been subjected to; beyond the formation and development of the cities in the São Paulo inland, upon the logic of urban segregation.
