International crisis, work and environment

In accordance with the internal criteria for thematic choice, adopted by Revista Aurora, the Dossier Section of this issue presents the theme of the Research Line: International Relations and Development of the Postgraduate Program in Social Sciences at Universidade Estadual Paulista - “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” - Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences, Marília Campus. In this way, the Dossier Section is structured around the following works: a) The role of the European Union in the management of international conflicts: a political-strategic actor under construction, authored by Vanessa Capistrano Ferreira, from Universidade Estadual Paulista - “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” – Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences, Marília Campus; b) Brazil and China: opposition or contradiction?, authored by Carlos Humberto de A. Spinelli, from Universidade Estadual Paulista - “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” – Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences, Marília Campus; c) The international financial crisis and American power: influences on the scope of the IMF reform, authored by Marilia Romão Capinzaiki, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina; d) the fourth and final article, authored by Gabriela Granço do Amaral, The “peaceful rise” in the evolution of Chinese diplomacy in recent decades, from the San Tiago Dantas Postgraduate Program (UNESP, UNICAMP, PUC/SP), closes this section. In the Miscellaneous Section, the published articles cover various themes and reflections on different social phenomena in the Human Sciences. In this way, this section is structured based on the following works: a) Contradictions between concepts and practices in international cooperation for the environment, authored by Rodolfo Ilário da Silva, from Universidade Estadual Paulista - “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” - Faculdade of Philosophy and Sciences, Marília Campus; b) The Cuban Revolution after the overthrow of the “socialist camp”: the conditions of political survival, authored by Julian Araújo Brito, from the State University of Rio de Janeiro; c) The metamorphosis of parties originating in the working class: characterizing the object from classical social democracy, authored by Henrique Cignachi, from the Federal University of Santa Maria; d) the fourth and final article, The commodification of climate change in international forums and the consolidation of an “intermediate” (sustainable?) development model, authored by Edson José Neves Júnior, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and André Francisco Matsuno da Frota, from the Federal University of Paraná, closes this Section. In the Special Section, we present the stimulating and enlightening work: International insertion of contemporary Brazil: the pendulum of changes, by Professor Dr. Meire Mathias, from the State University of Maringá. Professor Dr. Meire Mathias has a doctorate from the State University of Campinas. He is currently part of the teaching staff of the Department of Social Sciences at the State University of Maringá, where he develops research in the area of Political Science, with an emphasis on International Relations, working mainly on the topics of Brazilian foreign policy, regional integration, Latin America and international politics. This edition of the Magazine features in its Special Insert the text The crisis (2007-2012) - Guidelines for a global approach, authored by Professor Dr. Osvaldo Coggiola, from the University of São Paulo. Professor Dr. Osvaldo Coggiola has a doctorate in Comparative History of Contemporary Societies from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. He is currently a full professor of Contemporary History at the University of São Paulo, where he develops research related to the themes of Marxism, Latin America, the labor movement, capitalism and socialism. The tribute paid in this edition of the Magazine is to Carlos Nelson Coutinho (1943 – 2012), made by Professor Dr. Marcos Tadeu Del Roio, from Universidade Estadual Paulista - “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”. Professor Dr. Marcos Tadeu Del Roio has a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo. He is currently a full professor of Political Theory at the São Paulo State University – “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” – Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences, Marília Campus.
