Resumo: The goal of this article is to analyze the Russian folk tales from the decade of 1880 by the Russian writer and pedagogue Lev Tolstoy, intended for the villagers from Yasnaya Polyana, his property in Tula, southern Moscow, in which a free school was created in 1859. For such intent, the Russian history from that period is presented, in order to clarify the social-historic context in which the tales were written, as well as the writer’s life, to understand the mystical phase he was going through in the time, his dedication to the moujik education and his proposal for new social morals.

Para tal intento, apresenta-se a história da Rússia naquele período, a fim de expor o contexto histórico-social em que os contos foram escritos, bem como a vida do escritor, a fim de compreender a fase mística pela qual estava passando no período, sua dedicação à educação dos mujiques e sua proposta de uma nova moral social.
