'Acting as expected, to get where one is not expected': housework field in the city of Marilia (SP)

Resumo: The Housework recently received regulation extending labor guarantees for the category with the 72nd Amendment / 2013, the achievement marks a new phase for the profession soon to be legally recognized since the enactment of the Consolidation of Labor Laws of 1943. The following article presents results from a fieldwork in the city of Marilia (SP), with maids and mistresses, from the perspective of historical and anthropological perspective on the profession and what their characteristics in the present, from recent data. The profession, which had its origins in the slave period in Brazil is characterized by social class indicators, gender and race today, factors that identify the field of search results to be displayed.

O seguinte artigo traz resultados de uma pesquisa de campo realizada na cidade de Marília (SP), com empregadas e patroas, sob a perspectiva do olhar histórico e antropológico sobre a profissão e quais suas características no presente, a partir de dados recentes.
