Resumo: the objective of this brief Essay is to restore the epistemological thread present in the work of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in order to articulate the categorical complex which is constructed from his complete work. So, the essay will expose the rousseaunian conceptual framework from a totality vision, in which the categories are generated from the opening of multiple socio-cultural and political-economic processes that are related in a perspective of unit of contraries. Thus, the essay starts from the concept of war and peace, which appear in his work Princípios do Direito de Guerra, as a way to expose the basis and nature of public institutions, that would be the political- institutional arrangement of the Modern State. Therefore, the analysis is determined from particular processes of the internal structure of the Modern State, however, combined with the objective and subjective determinations, which is determined in a universal way, in the external ambit.

Objetiva-se com este breve Ensaio recompor o fio epistemológico que existe na obra de Jean-Jacque Rousseau, de tal forma a articular o complexo categorial que é constituído a partir da totalidade de sua obra. Portanto, buscar-se-á expor o quadro-conceitual rousseauniano a partir de uma visão de totalidade, na qual as categorias são partejadas a partir da abertura de múltiplos processos sócio-culturais e político-econômicos que se relacionam em uma perspectiva de unidade de contrários. Desta forma, partir-se-á da concepção de guerra e de paz, que aparecem em sua obra Princípios do Direito de Guerra, como forma de se expor os fundamentos e a natureza das instituições públicas, que viriam a constituir o arranjo político-institucional do Estado Moderno.
