Resumo: | This article aims to discuss the last production of polish diretor Andrzej Wajda (1926-2016). Wajda revisits the past of the stalinist period, in 1948, narrating the insertion of Socialist Realism in a Poland occupied by the Soviets, after the Second World War. Artists, musicians, literati and filmmakers were affected by this artistc preject, including Wajda. Thus, the plot develops in the final years of the painter and avant-garde artist Wladyslaw Strzeminski, showing his resistance to this aesthetic language adopted by the regime. This biopic was produced in a context of increasing acquiescence to the rhetoric of the far-right government, Law and Justice party. In this way, we intend to reflect on the cinematographic discourse of the film, proposing na analysis of its production context and its codification. |

Em Afterimage (2016), Wajda retoma o passado do período stalinista, em 1948, ao narrar a inserção do Realismo Socialista numa Polônia ocupada por soviéticos, pós Segunda Guerra Mundial. Artistas, músicos, literatos e cineastas foram afetados por esse projeto artístico, incluindo Wajda. Assim, o enredo se desenvolve nos quatros anos finais da vida do pintor vanguardista Wladyslaw Strzeminski, mostrando a sua resistência à essa linguagem estética adotada pelo regime. Esta cinebiografia foi produzida em um contexto de crescente adesão dos poloneses a retórica do governo de extrema direita, representado pelo partido Lei e Justiça (PIS).
