Cinema and popular pornochanchada consumption: from exploited nudity to female representations (1970)

Resumo: The main objective of this article is to discuss historical contexts of pornochanchadas, male domination, use of nudity and the ways women were represented in these films, in a dialogue with bibliographic references of history and gender, identities and theory of cinema. As sources, we used the films Um Virgem na Praça (1973), directed by Roberto Machado and Mulheres Violentadas (1977), directed by Francisco Cavalcanti, in addition to hemerographic archives and internet news. The time frame chosen is the 1970s, which partly coincides with the period of greatest effervescence of pornochanchadas in Brazil. The interlocutors used are E. Ann Kaplan, Linda Williams, Marc Ferro, Pierre Bourdieu and Stuart Hall, among others.
