Mapping of research on film theatres in post-graduation stricto sensu post-graduation courses in the state of Rio de Janeiro

In this article, we present the mapping of researches about movie theaters developed in stricto sensu Graduate Programs of Public (Federal and State) and Private Higher Education Institutions in the state of Rio de Janeiro. We used systematic review as a methodology, follows the seven steps indicated by the Cochrane Collaboration, an organization linked to the health area, recognized as a reference for the production of systematic reviews. In total, 61 researches were counted (48 master thesis and 13 doctoral dissertations). These studies were analyzed according to their institution of origin, the major area of CAPES to which the Graduate Program where they were developed belongs, the decade in which they were defended and the cities to which they refer – whether they are from the state of Rio de Janeiro or not. After carrying out the quantitative survey of the researches, we organized the studies into groups to identify possible thematic trends. After all, as an object of investigation, movie theaters can be analyzed from different perspectives. Therefore, it is clear that the field – named by João Luiz Vieira (2021) as stories of cinemas – is growing in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
