Resumo: This text tries to set up a history of the city of Belém starting from the reading of a picture produced in the decade of 1930, more specifically in the year of 1939, Avenida Independencia, by Georges Wambach. To propose such discussion and historiographical analysis, I tried to make use of a range of bibliographical information and different sources. I made use of pictures, newspaper clippings, rare works, and government reports. As a theoretical support that allowed to see and dialogue with the sources, the use of the concept of Anachronims, discussed by Jacques Ranciére and Georges Didi-Hubermann, was fundamental. This used from the perception that the starting point of our analysis is the encounter between two epochs - the period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth and the late 1930s and 1940s - in the same place, the watercolor of the Belgian artist.
