REPRESENTANTION OF MASCULINITIES IN THE TEXTBOOK OF YOUTH AND ADULTS EDUCATION

Resumo: | This paper intends to present a brief analysis on how masculinities are represented in the Youth and Adult Education textbook. Bibliographical research allowed the understanding that masculinity is characterized as social practices that define the patterns of male behaviors. Furthermore, it was possible to understand that hegemonic masculinity is the pattern one, which is at the top of the relations between the individuals and exerts coercion on others masculinities. Data collection was based on the choice of a textbook adopted in the municipal schools of Rio Claro, in the interior of São Paulo State, from which images representing men and women in diversified activities were extracted. These images were categorized in order to base and enable the analysis of the data obtained. It was noticed that the textbook was produced from logical-formal aspects, highlighting the empirical character of traditional pedagogy and that, consequently, reproduces the values of a hegemonic masculinity. It was also concluded that school practices, as well as resources, need to adopt actions that encourage/motivatethe production of theoretical thinking, enabling the formation of an individual capable of knowing, reflecting and acting on his reality. |

La investigación bibliográfica nos ha permitido comprender que la masculinidad se caracteriza por prácticas sociales que definen los patrones de comportamiento masculino y que la masculinidad hegemónica es el patrón que se encuentra encima de las relaciones entre los individuos y que ejerce coerción sobre las demás masculinidades. La recolección de datos se realizó a partir de la elección de un libro didáctico adoptado en la red municipal de Rio Claro, interior de São Paulo, del cual se extrajeron imágenes que representaban hombres y mujeres en actividades diversificadas. Tales ilustraciones fueron categorizadas a fin de basar y posibilitar el análisis de los datos obtenidos. Se percibió que el libro didáctico se produjo desde aspectos lógico-formales, lo que resalta el carácter empírico de la pedagogía tradicional y que, consecuentemente, reproduce los valores de una masculinidad hegemónica. Se concluyó que las prácticas escolares, así como los recursos, necesitan adoptar destrezas que estimulen la producción del pensamiento teórico, posibilitando la formación de un individuo capaz de conocer, reflexionar y actuar sobre su realidad.O presente trabalho pretendeu apresentar uma breve análise sobre como as masculinidades são representadas no livro didático da Educação de Jovens e Adultos. A pesquisa bibliográfica permitiu a compreensão de que a masculinidade se caracteriza por práticas sociais que definem os padrões de comportamento masculino e que a masculinidade hegemônica é o padrão que se encontra no topo das relações entre os indivíduos, exercendo coerção sobre as demais masculinidades. A coleta de dados ocorreu a partir da escolha de um livro didático adotado na rede municipal de Rio Claro, interior de São Paulo, do qual foram extraídas imagens que representavam homens e mulheres em atividades diversificadas. Tais gravuras foram categorizadas a fim de embasar e possibilitar a análise dos dados obtidos. Percebeu-se que o livro didático foi produzido a partir de aspectos lógico-formais, o que evidencia o caráter empírico da pedagogia tradicional e que, consequentemente, reproduz os valores de uma masculinidade hegemônica.
