Resumo: The present work is the excerpt of a master's thesis on the life and work of the writer Elias José, in order to present the literary production of the author, as well as the consonances between his works with the demands of the school. The study develops in two directions: the first, which presents the biography of Elias José and the second, which aims to present an interlocution between the works of the writer with the instances of legitimation of the children's book in Brazil, namely, the PNBE and the FNLIJ and also with the L DB and PCN, official documents that guide the pedagogical work in the country, in order to present the contributions of this production in the context of the children and adolescent literature. The methodological procedure of this study considers the historical trajectory of the writer's production, giving visibility to the trends of a historical moment of the children and educational literature, contributing and reinforcing with the researches already existing in this area.

El estudio se desarrolla en dos direcciones: la primera, que presenta la biografía de Elías José y la segunda, que pretende presentar una interlocución entre las obras del escritor con los casos de legitimación del libro infantil en Brasil, a saber, el PNBE y el FNLIJ y también con la L DB y PCN, documentos oficiales que guían el trabajo pedagógico en el país, con el fin de presentar las contribuciones de esta producción en el contexto de la literatura infantil y adolescente. El procedimiento metodológico de este estudio considera la trayectoria histórica de la producción del escritor, dando visibilidad a las tendencias de un momento histórico de la literatura infantil y educativa, contribuyendo y reforzando con las investigaciones ya existentes en esta área.O presente trabalho é o recorte de uma dissertação de mestrado sobre vida e obra do escritor Elias José, no intuito de apresentar a produção literária do autor, bem como as consonâncias entre suas obras com as demandas da escola. O estudo desenvolve-se em duas direções: a primeira, que apresenta a biografia de Elias José e a segunda, que visa apresentar uma interlocução entre as obras do escritor com as instâncias de legitimação do livro infantil no Brasil, a saber, o PNBE e a FNLIJ e também com a LDB e PCN, documentos oficiais que norteiam o trabalho pedagógico no país, no intuito de apresentar as contribuições dessa produção no âmbito da literatura infantojuvenil e escolar.
