Macedo Soares, Amélia Mingas and the transatlantic linguistic historiography

Resumo: | This paper presents preliminary exercises of historiographical analysis, with the purpose of exemplifying a way of working in implementation. This way of working is developed within the scope of a collective project for the study of transatlantic linguistic history and its general goals are to contextualize strategic documents for the understanding of this history and to examine, from the point of view of Linguistic Historiography, concepts and terms in which knowledge on the 'languages' of this context has been supported, in order to highlight characteristics that can be distributed on an axis that goes from the Eurocentric to the decolonial. It is intended, therefore, to contribute to the reflection on contemporary uses of (meta)language. In this article, we contextualize and examine texts by Antônio Joaquim de Macedo Soares (Brazil, 1838-1905) and Amélia Arlete Dias Rodrigues Mingas (Angola, 1940-2019), illustrating two of the implementation strategies of the proposal. |

Esta forma de trabajo se desarrolla en el marco de un proyecto colectivo para el estudio de la historia lingüística transatlántica y tiene como objetivos generales contextualizar documentos estratégicos para la comprensión de esta historia y examinar, desde el punto de vista de la Historiografía Lingüística, conceptos y términos en los que se ha apoyado el conocimiento sobre las 'lenguas' de este contexto, con el fin de evidenciar características que puedan distribuirse en un eje que va de eurocéntrico a decolonial. Así, se pretende contribuir a la reflexión sobre los usos contemporáneos del (meta)lenguaje. En este artículo, contextualizamos y examinamos textos de Antônio Joaquim de Macedo Soares (Brasil, 1838-1905) y Amélia Arlete Dias Rodrigues Mingas (Angola, 1940-2019), ilustrando dos de las estrategias para implementar la propuesta.Este texto apresenta exercícios preliminares de análises historiográficas, com a finalidade de trazer ao debate um modo de trabalho em implementação. Esse modo de trabalho desenvolve-se no âmbito de um projeto coletivo de estudo da história linguística transatlântica e tem por metas gerais contextualizar documentos estratégicos para a compreensão dessa história e examinar, do ponto de vista da Historiografia Linguística, conceitos e termos nos quais o saber sobre as ‘línguas’ desse contexto tem se apoiado, a fim de evidenciar características que podem ser distribuídas em um eixo que vai do eurocêntrico ao descolonial. Pretende-se, com isso, contribuir para a reflexão sobre usos contemporâneos da (meta)linguagem.
