Teachers, media and state: representations around the teaching figure in the 2015 demonstrations in Paraná

Resumo: The present work aims to analyze the representations built about the demonstrations that took place in Paraná in April 2015 and its participants, teachers and police. The focus is on how representations are constructed about the teacher, in an attempt to understand if they are indicative of the devaluation that affects this professional category. It will be analyzed lexical choices in online news from three newspapers: Estadão, G1 and Uol. Thus, we seek to identify which ideologies permeate the discourses of these media, assuming that the media can influence the opinions and the constructions of the reality of the population as a whole. For that, we use Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis as a theoretical-methodological tool. The focus is on the way as representations are constructed about the teacher, in an attempt to understand how this professional is currently seen. The analysis showed that, in the three news portals, the naturalization of police violence is reinforced, as well as the negative view attributed to demonstrations and strikes mobilized by teachers. In this sense, the work also shows contradictions around the figure of the teacher, praised in advertising campaigns and, at the same time, devalued in so many aspects.

O foco recai nas representações acerca do professor, na tentativa de entender se elas são indicativas da desvalorização que acomete essa categoria profissional. Serão analisadas as escolhas lexicais em notícias de três portais de notícias online: Estadão; G1 e Uol. Dessa forma, buscamos identificar quais são as ideologias que perpassam os discursos desses órgãos de comunicação, partindo do princípio de que a mídia pode influenciar as opiniões e construções da realidade da população como um todo. Para tanto, utilizamos como abordagem teórico-metodológica a Análise Crítica do Discurso de Norman Fairclough. A análise demonstrou que, nos três portais de notícias, é reforçada a naturalização da violência policial, bem como a visão negativa atribuída a manifestações e greves mobilizadas por docentes.
