Resumo: The work, in a way, intends to provoke a controversy around the question of referenciation. Viewed from a discourse analysis (DA) angle, the theory seems to present an interesting view of the relationship between words and things. But there are concepts defined in such a way that they could not be incorporated or adopted by DA, including discourse, object of discourse and negotiation. Furthermore, this work considers that the theoretical adversary (the mapping thesis) is no longer in the field. Finally, it tries to show that the selection of “innocent” data facilitates the support of the hypotheses, and that the consideration of other data would put them in check.

Vista desde el ángulo del análisis del discurso (AD), la teoría parece presentar una visión interesante de la relación entre las palabras y las cosas. Pero hay conceptos que no podrían ser incorporados o adoptados por la AD, como discurso, objeto de discurso y negociación, tal como definidos. Además, este trabajo considera que el adversario teórico (la tesis del mapping) ya no está en el campo. Finalmente, se intenta mostrar que la selección de datos “inocentes” facilita la sustentación de las hipótesis, y que la consideración de otros datos las pondría en jaque.O trabalho de certa forma pretende provocar uma polêmica em torno da questão da referenciação. Vista do ângulo da análise do discurso (AD), a teoria parece apresentar uma interessante visão da relação entre as palavras e as coisas. Mas há conceitos definidos de maneira tal que não poderiam ser incorporados ou adotados pela AD, entre os quais discurso, objeto de discurso e negociação. Além disso, este trabalho considera que o adversário teórico (a tese do espelhamento) já não está mais no campo.
