Northeastern Wallig factory: architectural analysis of modern industrial heritage

Resumo: This article is an architectural analysis of the industrial complex that housed Fábrica Wallig Nordeste S.A, located in the district of the Industrial District of Campina Grande, Paraíba State. Its objective is to reflect on the installation of architectural projects from geographically distinct Brazilian regions, but which sought adaptations to the constraints of the place where the work was built, working with a local workforce, and looking for constructive solutions that employed materials and techniques. of the territory. In contemporary times, it is observed that modern and industrial collections are at constant risk, and therefore, the importance of reflecting on their preservation. The building / object of this article was the headquarters of the company Wallig Nordeste SA, a household stove factory belonging to the Wallig Group of Rio Grande do Sul. The author of the project for the large industrial complex was the office “Sérgio e Pellegrini Cia Ltda, architecture, urbanism and decorations ”, located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, which presented it in 1965 for legal proceedings. The project solution denotes a concern in solving local climate problems, observing a series of solutions that will be addressed in this article, leading to the discussion of the close relationship between industrial architectural production and the place. After the closure of the factory, the building remained unusable for over twenty years, and only in 2006, it was used again, when the Wallig Industrial Condominium that houses sixteen micro enterprises was created.

Possui como objetivo, refletir sobre a instalação de projetos arquitetônicos oriundos de regiões brasileiras distintas geograficamente, mas que procuraram adaptações aos condicionantes do lugar no qual a obra foi edificada, trabalhando com uma mão de obra local, e procurando soluções construtivas que empregassem materiais e técnicas do território. Na contemporaneidade, observa-se que os acervos modernos e industriais encontram-se em constante risco, e por isso, a importância em refletir sobre a preservação dos mesmos. A edificação/objeto desse artigo- era sede da empresa Wallig Nordeste S.A, uma fábrica de fogões domésticos pertencente ao Grupo Wallig do Rio Grande do Sul. O autor do projeto do grande complexo industrial foi o escritório “Sérgio e Pellegrini Cia Ltda, Estúdio de arquitetura, urbanismo e decorações”, localizado em Porto Alegre, no Rio Grande do Sul e que o apresentou em 1965 para os trâmites legais. A solução projetual denota uma preocupação em resolver os problemas climáticos locais, ao observar-se uma série de soluções que serão abordadas nesse artigo, levando à discussão da estreita relação entre a produção arquitetônica industrial e o lugar.
