The pedagogical mediation of teachers of children with autism: an assessment using the Mediated Learning Scale (EAM)

Resumo: | As one of the its fundamental aspects, inclusive education requires recognizing the characteristics of the deficiency of the student, knowing which tools can facilitate the learning and the elaboration of strategies favorable to the teaching. In this study, part of the construction of a thesis of the first author, guided by the second, the goal was to identify and to describe ways of evaluating the levels of pedagogical mediation of teachers in their practices to alphabetize and letter children who are in Autism Spectrum Disorder. To reach this goal, an almost-experimental design was performed with an almost-experimental design, type A-B (baseline/intervention), using the Mediated Learning Scale (EAM) as an instrument for data analysis. The results indicate that this scale, as a methodological instrument, shows the possibility of measuring levels of pedagogical mediation, and favors the discussion about the interactions between students and teachers. Based on the study´s discoveries, we discuss the format of continuing education programs in service, how much the research affected the learning process of all those involved, and what advantages and difficulties were present during the research. |

La educación especial inclusiva requiere como uno de los aspectos fundamentales reconocer las características de la discapacidad del alumno y saber qué instrumentos pueden facilitar el aprendizaje y la elaboración de estrategias favorables a la enseñanza. En este estudio, parte de la construcción de una tesis de la primera autora, orientada por la segunda, el objetivo fue identificar y describir modos de evaluación de los niveles de mediación pedagógica de profesoras en sus prácticas para alfabetizar y letrar niños que están en el Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA). Para ello, se realizó una investigación con carácter cualitativo de delineamiento cuasi-experimental intrassujeito del tipo A-B (línea de base / intervención), utilizando como instrumento para análisis de los datos la Escala de Aprendizaje Mediada (EAM). Los resultados señalan que la referida escala como instrumento metodológico posibilita medir niveles de mediación pedagógica, haciendo notable las interacciones entre alumnos y profesores. Se discute a partir de los hallazgos del estudio el formato de programas de formación continuada en servicio, como la investigación afectó el proceso de aprendizaje de todos los involucrados y cuáles ventajas y dificultades estuvieron presentes en el transcurso de la pequeña. A educação especial inclusiva requer como um dos aspectos fundamentais reconhecer as características da deficiência do aluno e saber quais instrumentos podem facilitar o aprendizado e a elaboração de estratégias favoráveis ao ensino. Neste estudo, parte da construção de uma tese da primeira autora, orientada pela segunda, o objetivo foi identificar e descrever modos de avaliação dos níveis de mediação pedagógica de professoras em suas práticas para alfabetizar e letrar crianças que estão no Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa com caráter qualiquantitativo de delineamento quase-experimental intrassujeito do tipo A-B (linha de base/intervenção), utilizando-se como instrumento para análise dos dados a Escala de Aprendizagem Mediada (EAM). Os resultados sinalizam que a referida escala como instrumento metodológico possibilita aferir níveis de mediação pedagógica e favorece a discussão sobre as interações entre alunos e professores. Discute-se a partir dos achados do estudo o formato de programas de formação continuada em serviço, como a investigação afetou o processo de aprendizagem de todos os envolvidos e que vantagens e dificuldades estiveram presentes no decorrer da pesquisa.
