Resumo: The present article discusses the autonomy development of a group of forty high schoolstudents, during a learning strategy to work with Arithmetical and Geometrical Progressions. Theresults integrate an investigation undertaken during the course and had as one of its objectives, theconstruction of pointers and the monitoring of the evolution process related to the students’autonomy. By the monitoring on of the students’ evolution in each stage of the procedure, theautonomy indicators were determined. For each indicator the behaviors and degrees were mapped. Theresults show that the strategies developed facilitate the students’ participation by questioning; planningand comunication. The difficulties presented by the students were the oral explanation, the adaptationto the requirements imposed for the tasks and the compliance of the activities.

Os resultados apresentados integram uma investigação durante o curso de mestrado, que teve, entre seus objetivos, a construção de indicadores e o acompanhamento do processo de evolução dos alunos, no que se refere à autonomia. Em cada indicador foram mapeados comportamentos e atribuídos graus de intensidade. Os resultados apontaram que a estratégia desenvolvida favorece o protagonismo do estudante, possibilitando-lhe: questionar, planejar metas, comunicar descobertas, tornar-se sujeito do conhecimento.
