Power relations within the reflective journals of foreign language (English) learners

Resumo: This study investigates the representations of foreign language(English) learners regarding the way teachers and learners have their places andpositions established in the learners’ reflective journals. Through the analyzedjournal writings, we discuss how the places and positions - historically built –work on the way that power relations are established within the classroomsetting. This is an interdisciplinary study since it includes questions and concepts from applied linguistics problematized by a French discourse analysis school whose perspective is the consideration that the subject and the meanings of the subject’s writing are socio-historically and ideologically constituted in continuous processes.

Exploramos, assim, como esses lugares e posições, historicamente estabelecidos, trabalham no modo como as relações de poder sejam delimitadas no contexto da sala de aula a partir dessa escrita.
