Resumo: Looking for a sense to teaching Mathematics, I suggest a Mathematicity of the human being and believe in the Mathematics teaching like an Education of the Mathematicity. Then, I was were seduced to see more carefully one of its aspects that I baptized as the evocative character of the Mathematics. In this article, I will try to identify it and its educative possibilities by taking as example the evocations suggested by the concept of variable, that make emerge its provocative tone and its convocative appeal.

A partir daí, fomos seduzidos a olhar com mais cuidado para um de seus aspectos que nos ocorreu batizar de caráter evocativo da Matemática, empenhando-nos, então, na sua identificação e na identificação de suas possibilidades educativas. Para tanto, tomamos como exemplo as vocações sugeridas pelo conceito de variável, que fazem emergir ainda o seu tom provocativo e seu apelo convocativo.
