Resumo: The article discusses some methodological issues in the social sciences. To this end, we confront Gramsci and Weber's analysis schemes, particularly problematizing the notions of totality and social regularity. To think about the methodology of these authors is to think about how their world views are expressed. Thus, it is necessary to analyze their theoretical-political conceptions, that is, how they conceived the "man" of their time, how the political insertion in public life was qualified and to what extent theoretical and scientific knowledge underlies this insertion. This article is, above all, a Marxist criticism of the Weberian theory disseminated, at various times, as disinterested knowledge.

Universidade Estadual de Campinas1999-08-05info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://econtents.bc.unicamp.br/inpec/index.php/tematicas/article/view/1166210.20396/tematicas.v7i13/14.11662Tematicas; v. 7 n. 13 (1999); 53-88Tematicas; Vol. 7 No. 13 (1999); 53-88Tematicas; Vol. 7 Núm. 13 (1999); 53-882595-315Xreponame:Temáticas (Campinas.
