Apesar de suas potencialidades, é um campo ainda pouco explorado na área odontológica. Dessa forma, a presente tese foi composta por três estudos com os seguintes objetivos: 1- Investigar as políticas e programas sobre a digitalização em saúde e discutir a produção científica sobre o tema e o campo odontológico no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS); 2- Avaliar, por meio de uma revisão sistemática, o impacto das Redes Sociais Online (RSO) como recursos para favorecer mudanças de comportamentos relacionados à prevenção e promoção da saúde bucal; 3- Analisar as associações entre variáveis sociodemográficas, comportamentais, odontológicas com o uso da internet para obtenção de informações sobre a sua saúde bucal em usuários da Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS). No primeiro artigo, por meio de uma revisão integrativa, encontrou-se 574 estudos e, após as análises, permaneceram 10. Verificou-se que 9 tratavam sobre Teleodontologia e, destes, sete sobre teleconsultoria e dois a respeito de tele-educação, além de um estudo sobre aplicativos móveis. O pequeno número de estudos encontrados sobre o assunto, com foco prioritário em ações de Teleodontologia, destaca importantes lacunas no desenvolvimento de políticas e programas do SUS para a e-Health no campo odontológico. Já no segundo artigo, através de uma revisão sistemática, foram avaliados 3.171 estudos e 12 incluídos nas análises, totalizando 1.669 participantes. A RSO mais investigada foi o WhatsApp®, seguida pelo Telegram® e Youtube®. A extração de dados permitiu a meta-análise dos resultados do Índice Gengival (IG) e sobre o Conhecimento em Saúde Bucal (CSB) para jovens. Constatou-se que os jovens expostos às intervenções digitais por RSO apresentaram redução no IG, quando comparados às atividades educativas tradicionais. Esse fato ocorreu com todos os jovens avaliados, incluso aqueles que estavam em tratamento ortodôntico. Para mais, os jovens submetidos ao tratamento ortodôntico expostos as RSO apresentaram um aumento no CSB quando comparados às atividades educativas tradicionais. No terceiro artigo, por meio de estudo observacional transversal, foi encontrado o total de participantes foi de 301 adultos, sendo a maioria do gênero feminino. No modelo final, os usuários com ensino médio, que buscaram com maior frequência informações sobre saúde geral na internet, que achavam que a internet tinha maior utilidade para tomar decisões sobre saúde geral, que conversaram com um profissional de saúde nos últimos 12 meses sobre alguma informação de saúde geral que obtiveram na internet, que foram na última consulta odontológica por motivo urgência e que tinham maior autonomia nas tomadas de decisões relacionadas à odontologia, apresentaram maior chance de utilização da internet para obtenção de informações sobre a saúde bucal (p<0,05). Conclui-se que apesar de suas potencialidades, a Saúde Digital no campo odontológico, até o momento, é pouco explorada, sobretudo, no SUS. Além disso, que os fatores sociodemográficos, comportamentais e odontológicos estiveram associados com a utilização de ferramentas da Saúde Digital para obtenção de informações sobre a saúde bucal em usuários adultos da APSAbstract: Over the last few decades, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been expanded in the field of health. Despite its potential, It is a field that is still little explored in the field of dentistry. Thus, this thesis was composed of three studies with the following objectives: 1- Investigate policies and programs on digitalization in health and discuss the scientific production on the subject and the dental field within the scope of the Unified Health System (UHS) ; 2- Evaluate, through a systematic review, the impact of Online Social Networks (OSN) as resources to favor behavior changes related to the prevention and promotion of oral health; 3- Analyze the associations between sociodemographic, behavioral and dental variables with the use of the internet to obtain information about their oral health in users of Primary Health Care (PHC). In the first article, through an integrative review, 574 studies were found and, after the analyses, 10 remained. It was verified that 9 dealt with Teledentistry and, of these, seven about teleconsulting and two about tele-education, in addition to of a study on mobile applications. The small number of studies found on the subject, with a priority focus on Teledentistry actions, highlights important gaps in the development of UHS policies and programs for e-Health in the dental field. In the second article, through a systematic review, 3,171 studies were evaluated and 12 were included in the analyses, totaling 1,669 participants. The most investigated RSO was WhatsApp®, followed by Telegram® and Youtube®. Data extraction allowed the meta-analysis of the results of the Gingival Index (GI) and Oral Health Knowledge (OHK) for young people. It was found that young people exposed to digital interventions by OSN showed a reduction in GI when compared to traditional educational activities. This fact occurred with all the evaluated young people, including those who were undergoing orthodontic treatment. Furthermore, young people undergoing orthodontic treatment exposed to OSN showed an increase in OHK when compared to traditional educational activities. In the third article, through a cross-sectional observational study, the total number of participants was 301 adults, most of whom were female. In the final model, users with high school education, who more frequently sought information about general health on the internet, who thought that the internet was more useful for making decisions about general health, who talked to a health professional in the last 12 months about some general health information they obtained on the internet, who went to the last dental appointment due to urgency and who had greater autonomy in decision-making related to dentistry, were more likely to use the internet to obtain information on oral health (p<0.05). It is concluded that despite its potential, Digital Health in the dental field, so far, is little explored, especially in the UHS.
