Resumo: This paper examines the economic and urban transformations of São Vicente, on the São Paulo coast, during the coffee cycle and the subsequent railway deindustrialization of the city, which generated urban remnants due to the abandonment of the railway bed. The objective is to make another reading of the territory, revealed by walking along the railroad and by the use of the cartographic method that makes it possible to register the encounter with the Others - the inhabitants of the railroad bed. We wander through the first neighborhood formed by the appearance of the railroad and the abandoned areas of the railroad bed, the wandering becomes a path and a method of apprehension of the space. In this sense, the work develops reflections between deindustrialization and the possible uses of the Others from the abandoned spaces of the railroad.
