Resumo: This text rebuilds the trajectory of sociolinguistic theories,punctuating the way they have treated questions which are dear to them, such as ‘linguistic attitude’, linguistic prejudice, ‘politically correct’, ‘diglossia’, among others. During this trajectory, the author reflects on the relations between speaker and language in the theories approached, as well as on the political gestures present in the research and the linguistic policies sustained by these theories.

En el camino, el autor reflexiona sobre las relaciones entre el sujeto hablante y el lenguaje en las teorías abordadas, así como sobre los gestos políticos presentes en la investigación y las políticas lingüísticas respaldado por tales teorías.Este texto refaz o percurso das teorias sociolinguísticas, pontuando o modo como têm tratado questões caras a esse domínio de estudos, tais como ‘atitude linguística’, ‘preconceito linguístico’, ‘politicamente correto’, ‘diglossia’, entre outras.
