Tension about the process of legal recognition of Libras: historicity inscribed in legal texts

Resumo: Based on the functioning of the ideology, this law claims to be a guarantor of rights, equally protecting whatever is different. This is also the situation regarding laws that address language issues in Brazil, as in the case of the Libras law. Aiming at analyzing the statements about the Libras law and other legal texts associated with it, we have observed a series of pre-built elements that cross and support it. Would linguistic diversity, when related to Libras, be a threat to national unity? Or is it not a risk since it is a language that continues to be signified by the socio-historically constructed abnormality in relation to the deaf subject? These and other questions guide the analysis undertaken in this article, which is based on the theoretical-methodological proposal of Discourse Analysis.
