Resumo: | In November 2011, at the launch of the official logos of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic or Paralympic Games, the president of the then Brazilian Paralympic Committee announced that the Brazilian committee would be called the Paralympic Committee, as well as the Paralympics would be named Paralympics. . Although this decision was accepted by different media in the Brazilian press, the Folha de São Paulo newspaper and its online platform UOL, supported by a grammatical discourse through its then columnist Pasquale Cipro Neto, decided not to suppress the “o” these terms and continued to enunciate in their Paralympic and Paralympic stories. In this sense, this work aims to understand, through the history of linguistic ideas, and using as methodological theoretical support the analysis of materialist discourse, of what order is this dispute, between the demand for an orthographic change and its non-adherence by Folha and UOL. |
