Resumo: The critical understanding of technology and its relevance to education is an essential concern for studies in Science, Technology and Society (STS), as well as for contemporary Participatory Design agendas. This article addresses the first year of an ongoinguniversity extension project. The project has the objective of discussinghow an understanding of technology based on STS studies can contribute to the realization of participatory action researchaimed at digital inclusion and empowerment in educationalenvironments. We carried out Computer Education activities focusedboth on teachingstudents about Computer Scienceand onpromoting the qualification of teachers in the autonomous use of computer technologies ontheir own classroom activities.

Este artigo aborda o primeiro ano de um projeto em andamento, com o objetivo de problematizar como um entendimento de tecnologia baseado em CTS pode contribuir para a realização de um projeto participativo visando à inclusão digital e ao empoderamento na escolha tecnológica nos ambientes de ensino.
