Taxonomy and decision matrix of digital technologies in education: a proposal to support the incorporation of technology in the classroom

Resumo: This article proposes a Taxonomy and Decision Matrix for Digital Technology in Education (DTE), with the aim of collaborating with professors in choosing and incorporating digital technology into the classroom. A descriptive theoretical framework was used, based on studies by Manning and Johnson as well as Gartner’s Hyper Cycle method. The result considers four main categories: Authorship; Searching, Storage and Socialization; Virtual Immersion; and Assistive Technology. All of these contain specific tools that are subdivided according to their characteristics. The decision matrix allows professors to familiarize themselves with and assess individual tools to determine which of them meet their previously establish teaching needs.

A análise se caracterizou por utilizar uma metodologia teórica descritiva fundamentada nos estudos de Manning y Johnson e na teoria Hype-cycle de Gartner. O resultado considera quatro categorias centrais: Autoria; Busca, Armazenamento e Socialização; Imersividade Virtual; e Tecnologia Assistiva. Todas estas contem ferramentas específicas que se subdividem em razão de suas características.
