Resumo: | Introduction: Offering a single search interface in libraries makes it possible to retrieve information efficiently and quickly, regardless of the software or platform on which the original information is found. Objective: This study aims to describe and analyze the main discovery and delivery services. Methodology: Uses bibliographic method to identify requirements for software evaluation for discovery and delivery service. We identified and characterized 11 discovery and delivery tools, both commercial and free and open, and analyzed the three open systems (Blacklight, eXtensible Catalog/XC and VuFind) based on 17 criteria identified in the literature. Results: Blacklight is the tool that has the least advanced features, but seems flexible enough for users to add the necessary features. VuFind is the tool that meets 15 of the 17 criteria analyzed and was tested in an integrated search for records from DSpace and Dataverse, the most used software in Brazil for repositories of publications and research data. Conclusion: The study concludes that VuFind meets the demands for integration of different systems used in a library in order to concentrate all databases maintained by the institution in a single search system, considering that it is a consolidated tool, developed in open source, provides updated documentation to resolve doubts, is constantly evolving, and has an active user community, including in Brazil, with support from IBICT for problem solving. |
