Heritage education and pedagogical process: dialoguing with Paulo Freire and learning from indigenous peoples

Resumo: In this article we present the result of a study that aimed to understand the educational process proposed by the Learning with Indigenous Peoples Project, PACPI and the contributions of Archeology through scientific evidence for learning and recognition of the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples, the valorization of their identities and perceptions of environment and nature. The project was carried out with children from the First Year of Elementary School I at Colegio UNESC, located in the city of Criciúma, SC, in 2018. The approach was qualitative, with participant observation and document analysis as a technique and methodological choice. The data showed that the activities developed through visitation, workshops and records during the project led to engagement, reflection and empathy among students towards indigenous peoples and their cultural heritage. It was concluded through this study that a pedagogical process of qualified heritage education is essential, which provides significant experiences and actions to students, capable of developing a look of compassion, respect and admiration for indigenous peoples, their history, their customs and their culture.

El proyecto se llevó a cabo con niños del Primer Año de Primaria I del Colegio UNESC, ubicado en la ciudad de Criciúma, SC, en 2018. El abordaje fue cualitativo, con la observación participante y el análisis documental como técnica y elección metodológica. Los datos mostraron que las actividades desarrolladas a través de visitas, talleres y registros durante el proyecto llevaron al compromiso, la reflexión y la empatía de los estudiantes hacia los pueblos indígenas y su patrimonio cultural. A través de este estudio se concluyó que es fundamental un proceso pedagógico de educación patrimonial calificada, que brinde experiencias y acciones significativas a los estudiantes, capaces de desarrollar una mirada de compasión, respeto y admiración por los pueblos indígenas, su historia, sus costumbres y su cultura.Neste artigo apresentamos o resultado de um estudo que teve como objetivo compreender o processo educativo proposto pelo Projeto Aprendendo com os Povos Indígenas, PACPI e as contribuições da Arqueologia por meio de evidências científicas para a aprendizagem e o reconhecimento do patrimônio cultural dos povos originários, a valorização de suas identidades e percepções de ambiente e natureza. O projeto foi realizado com crianças do Primeiro Ano do Ensino Fundamental I do Colégio UNESC, localizado no município de Criciúma, SC, no ano de 2018. A abordagem foi qualitativa tendo a observação participante e a análise documental como técnica e escolha metodológica. Os dados mostraram que as atividades desenvolvidas por meio de visitação, oficinas e registros no decorrer do projeto provocaram engajamento, reflexão e empatia dos estudantes para com os povos indígenas e seu patrimônio cultural.
