Resumo: | The article brings an analysis of the behavior of large foreign companies in the Brazilian manufacturing industry, based on data from Pintec-IBGE (1998-2008), considering a series of indicators (responsibility for product and/or process development; cooperative relations; training expenses; and strategic and organizational changes) that reflect, to some extent, the organizational changes promoted by these companies. Using Evolutionary Economic Theory as framework for analysis, our goal is to understand to what extent these companies have been placing themselves into the techno-economic paradigm of “flexible networks” in the context of Brazilian economy. The research made evident that the innovative behavior adopted by large foreign companies in the Brazilian manufacturing industry is showing an acting feature of “companies in network” rather than “network of companies.” |
