Resumo: This article will analyze the historical evolution of the concept of the principle of the dignity of the human person, from antiquity to the present day, answering the question: What is the importance of human rights? When did this apply? Its constitution, definition and importance in relation to society and the individual as subject of rights are also addressed. Therefore, with hypothetical-dialectic methodology, it is proposed the debate of this subject so dear to the operators of the right.
