A fisioterapia e a percepção da amputação na qualidade de vida de indivíduos amputados

Amputation is a generally surgical procedure in which there ir partial or total removal of a limb. They occur mainly for three reasons: chronic pathologies, tumors and traumas. In Brazil, the incidence of amputations is thirteen point nine per hundred thousand inhabitants. The quality of life is often impaired as a result of amputation. Physical therapy plays an important role in the return of the amputated individual to society and in daily life activities, thus improving their quality of life. The objective of this research was to verify whether physical therapy is effective in the management of benefits aimed at improving the quality of life of amputees and to analyze whether the perception of amputation interferes with the quality of life. A field study was conducted with twenty amputees attended by the physiotherapy clinic for the INSS amputee project, where four questionnaires were applied: identification of the individual, information on amputation, WHOQOL-BREF and perception of amputation. The data were collected at the physiotherapy clinic and after the application of the questionnaires all the results were tabulated in the Excel® 2013 version and tabulated to verify the results. It was concluded that, given the results obtained, the pre- and post-prosthetic physiotherapy is essential to make the amputee independent and that the negative perception of amputation can directly affect the amputee’s quality of life.
