Perfil de saúde e adoecimento de trabalhadores de hortas orgânicas urbanas no município de Maringá-PR

Introduction: Health diet is a world wide preoccupation and its production can have a positive or a negative impact over rural’s workers health. Objective: To detect diseases that affect rural workers in an organic production environment, as well as offer an analysis of the importance of health promotion actions in the development of diseases, preserving or improving their health profile. Methods: It is a descriptive exploratory study of quantitative nature, carried out through two questionnaires, with 61 questions in total, in 10 different gardens and evaluation of 45 people in the city of Maringá-PR. Results: The average age of workers was 68 years old. Approximately 44% had headache attacks. Despite daily sun exposure, 91% of respondents do not use sunscreen and of these, 73% had sun spots on the face, arms and back of the hands. In addition, 80% have some type of musculoskeletal pain. In the individual profile, data indicated that workers hardly perform physical activity and more than half include fatty foods in their daily diet. However, the social relationship and stress control showed excellent results. Conclusion: There are several variables that interfere in the health of rural workers and lead to their illness and that need prevention to increase quality of life.
