Resumo: The blood bags come from healthy people, being administered in individuals as a way of blood replacement therapy in the event of hemorrhages, in which a high level of blood is lost and the organism can not replace it in such a short time. In view of the high indicators of infections by sexually transmitted disease, doing the serologic tests becomes essential for screening the blood bags, aiming to reduce the levels of transmissions through blood transfusions. Therefore, the present paper has as its main objective to comprehend the significance of detecting Hepatitis B and C in blood banks through serologic screening. It was carried out a literature review study, emphasizing the importance of detecting Hepatitis B and C in serologic screenings to the potential blood donation. Wherefore, it was noticed an incidence of Hepatitis in 2019, in the state of Paraná, with detection rates for Hepatitis B of 15,5 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, and for Hepatitis C the detection rates in the same year was 12,2 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. That being so, it is extremely important to the detection of the Hepatitis B and C, tests in the serologic screening, as the EIA method, luminescence test, PCR, and the NAAT.

Diante dos altos índices de infecções por doenças sexualmente transmissíveis, torna-se essencial a realização de testes sorológicos para triagem de bolsas sanguíneas, tendo como propósito a redução dos índices de transmissão através das transfusões de sangue. Sendo assim, o presente estudo tem como principal objetivo compreender a importância da detecção do vírus das hepatites B e C em bancos de sangue através da triagem sorológica. Foi realizado um estudo do tipo revisão de literatura, utilizando artigos científicos dos anos 2010 a 2020, excluindo da pesquisa, bases científicas não relacionadas ao tema. Com isso, observou-se uma incidência das hepatites no ano de 2019, no estado do Paraná, com taxa de detecção para hepatite B de 15,5 casos a cada 100 mil habitantes, e para a hepatite C a taxa de detecção no mesmo ano foi de 12,2 casos a cada 100 mil habitantes.
