Resumo: Introduction: Autistic Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder with the main characteristic of deficits in social interaction, repetitive behaviors and restricted interests. Objective: To identify the knowledge of nursing professionals in Primary Health Care about the recognition of signs and symptoms of autism in children for early detection. Method: Scientific research of qualitative nature, this is the application of a questionnaire with 13 objective questions, carried out from April 23, 2021 to May 16, 2021, in four Basic Health Units (UBS) located in Maringá, Paraná, to identify the knowledge of the nursing staff regarding signs and symptoms for early detection of autism. Results: We obtained 25 responses through the questionnaire, demonstrating that professionals know that autism exists but are not able to diagnose it. Conclusion: We conclude that there is a knowledge gap for these professionals, with the need for training nursing professionals in UBS for early detection of autism.

Objetivo: Identificar o conhecimento dos profissionais de enfermagem da Atenção Primária de Saúde sobre o reconhecimento dos sinais e sintomas do autismo em crianças para detecção precoce. Método: Pesquisa científica de cunho qualitativo, trata-se da aplicação de um questionário com 13 questões objetivas, realizadas no período de 23 de Abril de 2021 á 16 de Maio de 2021, em quatro Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS) situadas em Maringá, Paraná, para identificar o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem referente aos sinais e sintomas para detecção precoce do autismo. Resultados: Obtivemos 25 respostas através do questionário, demonstrando que os profissionais sabem que o autismo existe porém não são capacitados para diagnosticar.
