Resumo: The objective of this article is to briefly discuss the trajectory of the Muslim culture, the principles and expressions, specifically what refers to the role of the mosque architecture and its symbology, evolution, uses and decorative elements used in different periods and cultures. It’s also discussed the Muslim immigration course in Brazil and the Muslim institution of Maringá, in Sheik Mohamed Bem Nasser mosque perspective. The methodology used in this present article is bibliographic review about the theme, architecture elements survey and program. In this study concludes that although the simple characteristics of the Muslim architecture, the mosque has a crucial role in maintaining this culture’s expression in this city.

Se discute também a trajetória da imigração muçulmana no Brasil e o estabelecimento da comunidade muçulmana na cidade de Maringá, na perspectiva da Mesquita Sheik Mohamed Bem Nasser. Os métodos adotados no desenvolvimento desse artigo foram a revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema e o levantamento dos elementos arquitetônicos e programa presentes na mesquita citada.
