Resumo: In the academic context, the environmental education composes as a transdisciplinary construction of knowledge, having as its intention the adoption of practices that include the integration of countless fields such as health, environment and social development. In this context, the insertion of a vegetable garden in the academic space aims to provide an improvement in the students’ nutritional quality, besides satisfactorily contributing for the educational pedagogic process, with the approach and fortification from social relationships of all the subjects envolved in the activities. The present study had as its aim to promote the implementation of a vegetable garden at the Municipal School Irineu Batista Camara, placed in Japurá – Paraná, having as main focus the envorinmental and nutritional education through the deployment and maintenance of the vegetable garden, besides the interaction from the school community in the project’s development. The study was developed with studentes of ages between eight and ten years old, envolving around 100 students. To verify the involvement and relevance from this action, took place through a questionnaire of qualitative character a lifting about the degree of contact and knowledge from the students about the topic. After the questionnaire application, the vegetable garden execution happened, performing the soil adjustment and fertilizing with chicken’s bed, installation and implantation from the crops, as its monitoring with the students since planting to harvesting. The results we had illuminates that the insertion of a vegetable garden in the academic context as a pedagogical tool in students and school community’s context is of the utmost importance, since the students who were involved with the project understood the importance of a healthy and nutritional subsistence and of an environmental education to change the actual social conjuncture.

Dentro deste contexto, a inserção de uma horta no ambiente escolar visa proporcionar uma melhoria na qualidade nutricional alimentar dos estudantes, além de contribuir satisfatoriamente para o processo pedagógico educacional, com a aproximação e o fortalecimento das relações sociais de todos os sujeitos envolvidos nas atividades. O presente estudo teve como objetivo fomentar a implantação de uma horta na Escola Municipal Irineu Batista Câmara, localizada no município de Japurá - Paraná, tendo como enfoque principal a educação ambiental e alimentar mediante a implantação e manutenção da horta, além da interação da comunidade escolar no desenvolvimento do projeto. O trabalho foi desenvolvido com alunos de faixa etária entre oito e dez anos, envolvendo cerca de 100 estudantes. Para constatar o envolvimento e relevância desta ação, efetivou-se por meio de questionário de caráter qualitativo um levantamento sobre o grau de contato e conhecimento dos alunos sobre o tema. Posteriormente a aplicação do questionário, sucedeu-se a execução da horta escolar, realizando a correção do solo e adubação com cama de frango, montagem e implantação das culturas, bem como o acompanhamento destas juntamente com os alunos, desde o plantio até a colheita.
