Resumo: The processing of products from the agribusiness generates a large volume of organic waste. Such residues are excellent raw materials for the production of organic substrates and fertilizers, providing increased production and improved the quality of food. In view of the need for further studies to reuse these organic residues, the present study intends to evaluate the viability of fertilizing vegetable ash in different doses as organic fertilizer in lettuce. This research was developed in 2020 with the aim of improving the chemical characteristics of the soil as well as the quality of lettuce plants. It tried to evaluate 5 different dosages of ash to be used as organic fertilizer in lettuce culture, which are: T1: Witness; T2: 4.5 t.ha-¹, T3: 9.0 t.ha-¹, T4: 13.5 t.ha-¹, T5: 18 t.ha-¹. The experiment was conducted in pots allocated inside a greenhouse, with a randomized block design, with 5 treatments and 6 repetitions, aiming to evaluate the plant`s biometric parameters such as fresh mass, stem height, stem diameter, number of leaves and parameters of the plant soil as pH by applying ash. Among the results found, the fact that the lettuce plant has significantly responded to the increase in the characteristics studied by fertilizing with ashes stands out, with dosages of 15 t.ha-1 being ideal for the plant. Besides the increase in plant attributes, the application of ash also provided an improvement in the chemical attributes of the soil, such as pH.
