Resumo: Objective: To assess how the self-care of patients diagnosed with diabetes occurs in the home environment. Methodology: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, in which the study population corresponded to patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus, type I or II. An instrument formulated by the authors with sociodemographic data and validated scales was used, namely: Questionnaire of Self-Care Activities with Diabetes and the B-PAID Scale. Data collection took place through the digital tool Google Forms, in the period of July 2022. It data were analyzed using simple and descriptive statistics. All the formal requirements contained in the regulatory norms of ethics in research involving human beings were respected. Results: 49 people participated in the research, 65.3% were female; aged between 45 and 54 years, 32.7%; 40.8% were married; and 38.8% had completed high school. The answers to the QAD questionnaire showed low adherence to a healthy diet, little practice of physical activity and lack of adherence to correct treatment. In the B-PAID scale, which assesses the impact of diabetes on quality of life, it was noted the lack of clear goals for diabetes care and the fear of living with the disease, in addition to the feeling of loneliness and lack of support. Conclusion: Therefore, when we observed such data, we have seen that diabetics have a prevalence of low quality of life and poor self-care. Thus, it is necessary to have interventions that promote and encourage self-care, as a way to improve the quality of life of these patients. It is necessary for the nurse to accompany the patient and use strategies that convince them to carry out the treatment based on their

It is necessary for the nurse to accompany the patient and use strategies that convince them to carry out the treatment based on theirObjetivo: Avaliar como ocorre o autocuidado do paciente diagnosticado com diabetes em ambiente domiciliar.
