Premature exfoliation as well as prolonged retention of deciduous teeth can alter the eruption chronology of permanent teeth and also divert their eruptive path, causing malocclusion and a disharmonious smile. Orthodontics is the dental specialty that treats dental malocclusions, and its intervention can begin in different stages of craniofacial growth and development and in the three stages of dentition. The aim of this study is to report a clinical case of a young patient, in the mixed dentition stage, in which the upper left permanent lateral incisor, tooth 22, erupted lingually from the deciduous left lateral incisor, in an individual dental crossbite. Once a correct differential diagnosis was made, an interceptive treatment was proposed, to procline the ectopic tooth, by means of a removable appliance with a digital spring, supported on the lingual surface of tooth 22, promoting crossbite with the antagonist tooth, prematurely, thus avoiding that functional and periodontal problems and undue wear on the teeth involved may occur secondarily. The result will depend on the patient's cooperation, but it is expected that within 6 to 10 months this malocclusion will be corrected. In agreement with the patient and her guardians, it was clarified that this stage of treatment would not eliminate a new orthodontic evaluation for complementary corrective treatment during the permanent denture phase.
