From the GATT to the WTO: the neoliberal institutionalist approach

Resumo: The paper approaches the history of GATT’s Rounds and, mainly, WTO creation from the point of view of the institutional neoliberalism of the International Relations in order to link economic interests and political decision making. The economic perceptions and the set of matrices of interests are linked to the political context and the structure of negotiations is focused in order to discuss the importance of international institutions to the stabilization of relations among states.

Las percepciones económicas u el establecimiento de matrices de intereses se vinculan al contexto político y a la estructura de las negociaciones. Su estudio sirve para discutir la importancia de las instituciones internacionales para la estabilización de las relaciones entre estados.O artigo aborda a história das Rodadas do GATT e, principalmente, da criação da OMC a partir da perspectiva do neoliberalismo institucional das Relações Internacionais de modo a vincular os interesses econômicos aos processos políticos de tomada de decisão.
