Resumo: This study aimed to understand the teaching process applied to the theme Cell Biology in public high schools in Barreirinhas. The study interviewed 4 Biology teachers, from three public schools (two state and one federal), teachers of Cell Biology content in the first year of high school. The results showed that of the three teaching units surveyed, only one had a laboratory structure for carrying out practical classes on the problematic theme, and this space is still very deficient in materials. Regarding teaching methodologies, applied to Cell Biology, with students, these were described as an expository and dialogued class, application of dynamics, parodies, group work, games and making prototypes of cells and microscopes, in addition to traditional means such as evidences. The teaching process of Cell Biology in the High School of Barreirinhas, Maranhão, still presents demands to be overcome, although the applied teaching methodologies already present progressive characteristics, in parts.

El estudio entrevistó a 4 maestros de biología, de tres escuelas públicas (dos estatales y una federal), maestros de contenido de biología celular en el primer año de la escuela secundaria. Los resultados mostraron que de las tres unidades docentes encuestadas, solo una tenía una estructura de laboratorio para llevar a cabo clases prácticas sobre el tema problemático, y este espacio todavía es muy deficiente en materiales. Con respecto a las metodologías de enseñanza, aplicadas a la biología celular, con los estudiantes, se describieron como una clase expositiva y dialogada, aplicación de dinámicas, parodias, trabajo en grupo, juegos y fabricación de prototipos de células y microscopios, además de los medios tradicionales como evidencias El proceso de enseñanza de la biología celular en la escuela secundaria de Barreirinhas, Maranhão, aún presenta demandas que deben superarse, aunque las metodologías de enseñanza aplicadas ya presentan características progresivas, en parte.O presente estudo teve por objetivo conhecer o processo de ensino aplicado à temática Biologia Celular nas escolas públicas de Ensino Médio de Barreirinhas. O estudo entrevistou 4 professores de Biologia, de três escolas públicas (duas estaduais e uma federal), ministrantes do conteúdo de Biologia Celular no primeiro ano do Ensino Médio. Os resultados apontaram que das três unidades de ensino pesquisadas, somente uma possuía estrutura de laboratório para execução de aulas práticas sobre a temática problematizada, sendo este espaço ainda muito deficiente em materiais. Sobre as metodologias de ensino, aplicado à Biologia Celular, junto aos educandos, estas foram descritas como sendo aula expositiva e dialogada, aplicação de dinâmicas, paródias, trabalhos em grupos, jogos e confecção de protótipos de células e microscópios, além de meios tradicionais como provas.
