The benefits of yoga for hypertensive patients

Resumo: Introduction: stress is one of the risk factors for hypertension, and among the benefits of practicing yoga is its reduction, as well as the increase in the ability to concentrate and creativity, the balance of sleep, the promotion of mental re-education, among others, providing quality of life. In addition, the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices in Brazil, aimed at preventing diseases and promoting health. Objective: to identify the scientific evidence on the practice of yoga in the treatment of hypertensive patients. Methodology: this is an integrative review about yoga as a complementary health practice for hypertension. The search was carried out by consulting scientific articles from March to July 2019 in electronic databases, including articles published in full between the years 2013 and 2019. Results: of the 279 studies initially identified, only seven publications composes this review, involving a total of 508 patients, who participated in the majority of randomized clinical studies. Conclusion: studies show that the practice of yoga by hypertensive patients as a complementary practice brings evidence of effectiveness.

Además, la Política Nacional de Prácticas Integrativas y Complementarias en Brasil, dirigida a prevenir enfermedades y promover la salud. Objetivo: identificar la evidencia científica sobre la práctica del yoga en el tratamiento de pacientes hipertensos. Metodología: se trata de una revisión integradora sobre el yoga como práctica de salud complementaria para la hipertensión. La búsqueda se realizó consultando artículos científicos de marzo a julio de 2019 en bases de datos electrónicas, incluyendo artículos publicados íntegramente entre los años 2013 y 2019. Resultados: de los 279 estudios inicialmente identificados, solo siete publicaciones compone esta revisión, que involucra un total de 508 pacientes, que participaron en la mayoría de los estudios clínicos aleatorizados. Conclusión: los estudios muestran que la práctica del yoga por parte de pacientes hipertensos como práctica complementaria aporta evidencias de efectividad.Introdução: o stress é um dos fatores de risco para hipertensão, e dentre os benefícios da prática da yoga encontra-se sua redução, bem como o aumento da capacidade de concentração e de criatividade, o equilíbrio do sono, a promoção da reeducação mental, dentre outros, proporcionando qualidade de vida. Além disso, a Política Nacional de Práticas Integrativas e Complementares no Brasil, visando prevenção de agravos e promoção da saúde. Objetivo: identificar as evidências científicas sobre a prática da yoga no tratamento para hipertensos. Metodologia: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa acerca da yoga como prática complementar em saúde para hipertensão. A busca deu-se por meio de consulta a artigos científicos no período de março a julho de 2019 em bases de dados eletrônicas, incluindo artigos publicados na íntegra entre os anos de 2013 e 2019. Resultados: dos 279 estudos inicialmente identificados, somente sete publicações compõe esta revisão, envolvendo um total de 508 pacientes, os quais participaram na maioria de estudos clínicos randomizados.
